Invisible Dog Fence - Going the Professional Install Route

By far the best experience I have had with containing and protecting my dogs has been to become an Invisible Fence Brand customer. Not only did they take care of all the hard labor of the installation ( I did not enjoy the hours of work I spent installing the first few retail do-it-yourself products I tried out), but they also trained my wild beasts to understand the system way more effectively and quickly than I could have myself.

The other surprising advantage I found with going with Invisible Fence Company is being able to buy indoor wireless units that take advantage of the same collars and let me devise all kinds of indoor pet-free areas. [read more about wireless dog fence]

But let me go back to the beginning of my journey to Invisible Fence Brand® Pet Containment. (Invisible Fence is a registered trademark of Invisible Fence, Inc but you will see a lot of companies say they sell "Invisible Fence" - don't be fooled.).

My wife and I (and the many dogs we have had over the years) live out in the middle of nowhere - the county road we live on doesn;t even have a name - just a number denoting how far east of town it is. However like most country roads cars getting moving pretty fast - and sadly we lost 2 dogs in our first few years living here.

So I built a fence. It was crazy expensive and when I was done with it I regretted it right away, because I had moved out to the middle of nowhere so I could enjoy the view of the fields and trees around us. But at least my dogs were now safely contained in the yard, right? Wrong. Dogs always find ways to get out - digging under the fence or just waiting until one of the gates is left open.

We lost another dog - this time just went missing. So I tried a do-it-yourself retail electric dog fence and ran it inside our fence line. What a chore - it was back breaking labor burying that darn wire. But once it was done it seemed like I had solved the problem. So I tore down the fence.

Turns out the problem wasn't solved. The do-it-yourself system didn't work very well and I had a list of things go wrong including wire breaks - that will drive you crazy. After getting a replacement and having it not work so well either - I was about to look into building that darn ugly fence again when I learned about Invisible Fence Brand.

Now I have had an Invisible Fence system for 5 years and love it! The local dealer and I have even become friends, and between his customer service and the quality of his company's electric dog fence I have recommended Invisible Fence Brand to about anyone that is interested in dogs. Especially when I breed puppies, I make sure to recommend that the new pet parent not take any chances at losing their beloved new pet - and to call Invisible Fence to make sure the dog stays safe.

So I don't sound like a door-to-door salesman - here are some things to keep in mind: the system was more expensive than the retail products (about double), but when you consider that it actually worked and the service you get after you have the system it was well worth it. I haven't lost a dog since.

You also have to be sure to keep your batteries from running dead - or your smarter dogs will figure out what's up and make their escape. My dealer mails me new batteries for all my dogs every three months so I know right when to change them out. Not sure if they all do this or not, but its really handy reminder.

Now I can just hang out in my yard with my dogs and watch the sunsets (and the occasional truck whip by)
